# Navigating the Interface

> A guided tour of the bLIS interface and how to find what you need.

## Overview

bLIS is accessed through your web browser. The interface is organized around a main navigation bar and content area that adapts to the section you're working in.

## Main Navigation

The primary navigation bar gives you quick access to the core areas of bLIS:

* **Accessions** — View, create, and manage accessions
* **Subjects** — Search and manage subject (patient/donor) records
* **Reports** — Access generated result reports
* **Invoices** — View and manage billing invoices
* **Worklists** — Access specimen worklists and batch processing tools

  The navigation options you see depend on your role and permissions. Some sections may not be visible if your role doesn't include access to them.

## Search

The global search bar at the top of the screen lets you quickly find:

* Accessions by ID or subject name
* Subjects by name, date of birth, or medical record number
* Test orders by accession or test name

<Tip>
  Use the search bar for the fastest way to navigate to a specific record. Start typing and bLIS will show matching results as you type.

## Organization Switcher

If you have access to multiple organizations, the organization switcher in the top navigation allows you to change which organization's data you're viewing. All data in bLIS is scoped to your currently selected organization.

## Dashboard

Your home screen provides an at-a-glance summary of:

* Recent accessions and their status
* Items that need your attention (pending validations, critical values, etc.)
* Quick links to common actions

If you run into issues or need assistance:

* Contact your lab administrator for questions about permissions or configuration
* Reach out to your organization's bLIS support contact for technical issues
