Test result specs may be configured as a calculated result, which means bLIS will calculate their value will be calculated automatically based on a source result.

| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Calculation method | The name of the algorithm to be applied. See below for what is supported. |
| Calculation source | The source result that is the input to the algorithm. The options will be names of other result specs within the same test spec. |
The below equations calculate estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), a measure of kidney function, based on age, sex, and serum creatinine levels.
$$ \begin{array}{|c|c|c|c|}\hline \text{Age} & \text{Sex} & \text{S}{\text{cr}} & \text{Equation} \\\hline \geq 18 & \text{Female} & \leq 0.70 & \rule[-5pt]{0pt}{20pt}142 \times \left(\frac{{\text{S}{\text{cr}}}}{{0.7}}\right)^{-0.241} \times 0.9938^{\text{age}} \times 1.012 \\\hline \geq 18 & \text{Female} & > 0.70 & \rule[-5pt]{0pt}{20pt}142 \times \left(\frac{{\text{S}{\text{cr}}}}{{0.7}}\right)^{-1.200} \times 0.9938^{\text{age}} \times 1.012 \\\hline \geq 18 & \text{Male} & \leq 0.90 & \rule[-5pt]{0pt}{20pt}142 \times \left(\frac{{\text{S}{\text{cr}}}}{{0.9}}\right)^{-0.302} \times 0.9938^{\text{age}} \\\hline \geq 18 & \text{Male} & > 0.90 & \rule[-5pt]{0pt}{20pt}142 \times \left(\frac{{\text{S}_{\text{cr}}}}{{0.9}}\right)^{-1.200} \times 0.9938^{\text{age}} \\\hline \end{array}
