Overview

Reports are formatted documents that contain finalized test results for an accession. They are the primary deliverable from the lab to the ordering organization.

Creating a Report

1

Ensure all results are finalized

All test orders in the accession must have finalized results before a report can be generated. Check the accession to confirm there are no pending or in-progress tests.
2

Navigate to the accession

Open the accession you want to generate a report for.
3

Generate the report

Click the Generate Report button. bLIS will compile all finalized results into a formatted PDF document.
4

Review the report

Preview the generated report to verify that all results, subject information, and lab details are correct.

Distributing Reports

Once a report is generated, you can distribute it in several ways:
Send the report via email to designated contacts. bLIS can send notifications with the report attached or linked for secure download.

Automatic Distribution

Your lab administrator can configure automatic report distribution rules:
  • Reports can be automatically emailed to designated contacts when generated
  • Notification preferences can be set per organization
  • Multiple contacts can receive the same report
Automatic distribution settings are managed by your lab administrator. Contact them if you need to change who receives reports for your organization.

Generate a corrected report

If the accession already has a final report, the generate action is Generate corrected report.
1

Open the report preview

From the accession, start a new report. bLIS treats this as a correction.
2

Enter a reason

Fill in Reason for corrected report. This is always required.
3

Select a classification

If your lab configured categories in AdminLists, choose one. The field is required when Require a classification when generating a corrected report is on.
4

Preview

Click Preview. The reason and classification appear above the PDF. They are not printed on the PDF. Click Edit to change them before you generate.
5

Generate or send

Use Generate to store the report, or Generate and Send to store it and notify recipients.
See Corrected reports for when to use this flow and how classifications work.

Report History

bLIS keeps a record of all generated reports. You can:
  • View previously generated reports for any accession
  • Track when reports were generated and distributed
  • Regenerate a report if needed (for example, after an amended result)
If a result is amended after a final report, generate a corrected report. The previous report remains in history.
